This is a little history about our three generations of rock collecting and polishing. 

Geodes and rock collecting goes back three generations in our family starting with my Grandfather. He had collected geodes and rocks every time he went on his vacations, all over the country. He also liked to polish small rocks, in a rock tumbler to see their true beauty. I remember going to my grandfather's house when I was a young boy, and in his backyard he had put a cascading water fountain, on the edge of a pond, that was filled with his large goldfish. His water fountain, and pond was in the middle of his large Chinese rock garden, with the rocks that he had collected over the years.

My father, and I also has been collecting geodes and small rocks when we go on our vacations. My father also collects larger rocks as well. He had hired a landscaping company to move two dump truck loads of large rocks of many types, from his old home, to his new home. He placed the large rocks around his new water fountain, and pond in his back yard. He also likes to polish rocks that he has found over the years. My brother is a miner in a rock quarry. He drives a large dump truck to haul the rock out of the mine. He also collects rocks and crystals from the mine. Now my kids like to hunt for geodes and small rocks along the Mississippi river banks. We also like to polish the small rocks we find. It is a fun hobby for everyone to collect geodes and rocks to enjoy and it does not cost anything to do. It's fun when you find hollow light rocks, and break then to see the crystals inside!
